In this CRUCIAL ROLE you will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of initiatives to grow the company's in and out licensing opportunities that will complement their business strategy. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations and Strategic Development, the incumbent will develop highly customized partnership agreements with industry and academic partners to gain access to critically important new technologies. Will have leadership role in the identification, evaluation and negotiation of agreements for unique technology to boost the company's R&D pipeline. Includes market and financial analysis, plus valuation and financial deal structuring for licensing or other transactions. Will maintain effective relationships with the partner/customer during the entire life-cycle of the partnership.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated a strong record of developing complex partnership agreements in the $2 million+ range, involving fees, milestones, and royalties. Requires solid high level contacts in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry plus a comprehensive understanding of the drug development process. Must have strong financial analysis and modeling skills, and expertise in valuing and structuring licensing and other transactions. Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with people within or outside the company is required, plus well developed influencing skills, adaptability, and the ability to deal effectively with ambiguity. Must have entrepreneurial mind-set and be comfortable in a fasted-pace and highly dynamic environment of an emerging growth company. Multi-tasking ability is expected. Requires advanced degree (Life Science) with MBA preferred, and 10 to 15 years biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience, with 7+ years in business development. Regional candidates are preferred.
